About Justina Pham DDS

Justina Pham (maiden name Sullivan) was born at Cottage Hospital, and grew up in Goleta. She went to El Camino and La Patera Elementary Schools, then to Goleta Valley Junior High and Dos Pueblos High like her parents.  During high school she had orthodontic treatment, and was fascinated by the process. By the end of her treatment, she had decided that she wanted to go into dentistry.  While attending Pomona College she explored other career options but always returned to dentistry.

After getting her bachelor’s degree in chemistry, she began dental school at the University of California, San Francisco, in the fall of 1997.  She graduated in 2001 and practiced in the Bay Area before moving back to Santa Barbara in 2007 to date one of her best friends from high school, Binh Pham.  He earned his bachelor’s degree in mathematics and master’s degree in statistics, both from UCSB.  He spent almost eight years teaching math and coaching tennis at Bishop Garcia Diego High School, and currently teaches math and statistics at UCSB. The two married in December of 2008, and have two sons, Dax and Ty.

In 2013, Dr. Pham joined the practice of Dr. Paul Avolese, a highly respected restorative and cosmetic dentist with a 17 year history in Santa Barbara. She is honored to carry on the tradition of clinical excellence for current and future patients. Dr. Pham is a lifelong learner, never satisfied that she has learned enough, and her goal in practice is to have a great time with people and do beautiful work. Her friendly and comforting manner put patients at ease. They often remark that they truly enjoyed their visit, and look forward to returning.

Dental Implant Procedures by Dr Pham

Dental Implants

A dental implant is a root-form titanium screw that is surgically placed in the jaw to create an anchor for teeth to be built upon. Dental implants are considered the best way to replace missing teeth.procedure before image Dental Implantsprocedure after image Dental Implants

Single Posterior Implant

The majority of dental implants involve the replacement of a back tooth. Referred to as a single posterior implant, this procedure is typically less complex and less costly than many people expect.procedure before image Single Posterior Implantprocedure after image Single Posterior Implant

Front Tooth Implant

Dental implants are an excellent option for replacing a missing front tooth in most cases. Front tooth implants are not as common as dental implants replacing missing molars or back teeth.procedure before image Front Tooth Implantprocedure after image Front Tooth Implant

Mini Implants

Mini dental implants, sometimes referred to as MDI or narrow-diameter implants, can be an excellent option if you’re looking to replace lost teeth in areas with less bone volume or severely limited spacing.procedure before image Mini Implantsprocedure after image Mini Implants

Tooth Extractions

Sometimes referred to as “having a tooth pulled,” a tooth extraction is a very common oral surgical procedure in which a natural tooth is removed from the jaw. An implant may be placed after adequate healing time.procedure before image Tooth Extractionsprocedure after image Tooth Extractions

Socket Preservation

Socket preservations are simple bone grafting procedures done in conjunction with tooth extractions. The goal of socket preservation is to preserve bone for a future dental implant to be placed.procedure before image Socket Preservationprocedure after image Socket Preservation

Dental Crowns

A dental crown is a cap or cover that protects the tooth and restores it to mimic natural shape, size, and function. Crowns are make of zirconia or porcelain and can be either cemented or screw-retained.procedure before image Dental Crownsprocedure after image Dental Crowns

Screw Retained Crowns

A screw-retained implant crown is a single-tooth fixed restoration that is secured to a dental implant by means of a screw. Screw retained crowns are popular due to the proven long-term success they deliver.procedure before image Screw Retained Crownsprocedure after image Screw Retained Crowns

Cemented Crowns

A cemented crown is a dental crown that is secured to a dental implant using a luting agent similar to dental crowns cemented onto natural teeth. Cemented crowns are beautiful, functional, and extremely durable.procedure before image Cemented Crownsprocedure after image Cemented Crowns

Dental Bridges

An implant bridge or dental bridge is a permanent option that replaces multiple missing teeth. It literally bridges areas that are missing one or more teeth and fill in larger spaces with natural looking crowns.procedure before image Dental Bridgesprocedure after image Dental Bridges

Dentures

Often made of plastic, acrylic or hard resin, dentures are outdated replacements for missing teeth that must be removed daily for cleaning. Patients typically dislike dentures and have difficulty chewing with them.procedure before image Denturesprocedure after image Dentures

Partial Dentures

Partial removable dentures, sometimes referred to as "partials," are removable dental appliances that replace one or more missing teeth. The replacement teeth are attached to a gum-colored acrylic base.procedure before image Partial Denturesprocedure after image Partial Dentures

Implant Cosmetics

The goal of implant cosmetic dentistry is to create tooth-like restorations that are strong, mimic natural beauty and completely restore natural function. Think of cosmetic dentistry as plastic surgery for teeth.procedure before image Implant Cosmeticsprocedure after image Implant Cosmetics
